Merry Christmas to everyone!
It’s Christmas time again and Dear Santa, I promise I have been nice all year 😉 So I really hope that he shows up with some of the things on my wish list. Otherwise, I have to wait until my birthday and that’s several months away. No can do.
But because I know my spouse and how he works, I will have to check those things off myself. But hey, as a Girl Boss I do stuff like that all the time.
Here is my wish list for Christmas 2017

Wool Dryer Balls – Drop a few drops of essential oil on them and your laundry will get dry faster and smell wonderful at the same time.
The Dyson V7 Motorhead – A sleek, lightweight and efficient cordless hoover. You have probably seen it around, I sure have. And it seems so easy to just grab and vacuum whenever you need to. Perfect for families with toddlers and/or animals.
The Shark Klik n’ Flip Steam Mop. Because we all want clean floors and it is so satisfying to see those spots of dirt magically disappear. The bathroom floor will surely thank you for it. As the only girl in our family of five, I would love to see a spotless tile floor in there. It also works on vinyl which is perfect for our kitchen.
Purest Naturals Essential oil diffuser. Like having your own spa at home. You can put any fragrance of your choosing in there and it will help with everything from cleaning the air to help you sleep better. And it has an awesome design too.
OontZ Angle 3. A portable Bluetooth speaker that lasts up to 12 hours. My house is lacking in the music department and I would love to listen to more music, especially in the kitchen when I’m cleaning away. At least I can’t really get my cleaning groove on without the right tunes playing.
A dreamcatcher from Dreamica on Etsy. I’m in love with those handcrafted dreamy looking dreamcatchers. If you go on Etsy and search for dreamcatchers you will get blown away at how many beautiful pieces there are. I want to fill my walls with them. I’m just kidding, I will not go crazy dreamcatcher-lady on you just yet. But I do want at least one to hang over my bed and the crib. The only problem is finding a design that works with my blue walls and green floor…(rental house).
As I was writing this list I realized that this could also be my online vision board and I can check them off as I receive them from the Universe. Because I have yet to actually make one and hang in my home for real. But as a new year’s resolution for 2018, I promise myself to make one as soon as I can in January.
Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to you all!
If you are anything like me, you don’t like to spend money on any cleaning product that you just as easily could make yourself. After learning this easy and cheap trick to descaling your kettle you will never have to spend another dime on industrial and environmentally bad solutions with perfume and harmful chemicals.
This easy method only takes a couple of minutes and works wonders.
It’s good for your family, the environment and your wallet. Win, win win!
This is how you do it:
- Fill up your kettle with about 1 liter (34 oz) of water.
- Add about 1 tbs of vinegar. (I use 24%, but you can use 12% or even 10% ,but then you may need a bit more)
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Empty out the kettle and wash a few times with water to get all vinegar out.
- Enjoy your clean and fresh kettle!
Before: a not so clean and inviting water kettle. And I really wanted a cup of tea..
Step 1 – 3: Fill up with water, add vinegar and bring to a boil. You can really see the difference here.
Step 5: Lo and behold, it’s so shiny! Enjoy your sparkling “new” kettle. I’m gonna get me some tea now 🙂

Fruit flies. We’ve all been there.
The summer time is by far the loveliest season. You can just open your front door early in the morning and let your kids roam around outside and play all day long in just their nappies or in their birthday suit.
But along with the summer heat another side of the season shows up to ruin your good mood. The pesky fruit flies. Buzzing silently around your bananas and your kids’ half-eaten apples they left on the sofa when they decided to run outside and play with their bikes instead.
I have tried many remedies to get rid of fruit flies from my home but as it often is, the simplest methods are almost always the best.
This is what I do to get rid of the pesky fruit flies once and for all.
1. The Apple Cider Vinegar Remedy
1 cup or glass or bowl
1/2 dl (1,7 oz.) Apple Cider Vinegar
A drop or two of Washing-up liquid
The vinegar attracts the flies through its sweet and fruity scent and the washing-up liquid removes the water’s surface tension so they sink to the bottom and stay there.
2. Fly Trap with Juice
This one is just as easy. You just need:
A tall glass jar
Pour the juice in the jar, add a few drops of soap and make a cone of the paper with the pointy side down in to the jar without it touching the juice.
The flies are attracted to the color of the juice, fly in to drink and gets trapped when they can’t find a way out. The soap also removes the water’s surface tension so that they drown.
3. The Red Wine Remedy
You are going to need:
Red wine or red cooking wine
Liquid soap or washing-up liquid
Pour the wine in the glass and add a few drops of soap or washing-up liquid.
The flies love the sweet scent and flies right in to take a sip only to drown because of the lack of surface tension on the water, removed by the soap.
4. The Yellow Tape Fly Trap
This one is really easy:
The flies are drawn to the pretty color of the tape and thus get stuck there. Silly little flies.
5. The Cleaning Remedy
However, you can use all of these remedies over and over and never get any results if your kitchen counters are dirty or you have food scraps in the garbage can for too long.
Before you do any of these methods you should always give your kitchen a good cleaning up. Take out the trash, wipe the counters and in the evening pour boiling hot water down the drain and then add some liquid soap. This prevents the flies from laying eggs in your drains, yuck.
Result: No more flies flying around your kitchen annoying everyone.
